At Hope City, everything we do is built on four foundational pillars:
MISSIONS
PRAYER
FAMILY
JUSTICE
From these pillars flow our core values which are practical expressions of the gospel that shape our culture, leadership, and service. Every value strengthens one of the four pillars, keeping us rooted, balanced, and focused as a church on mission.
TEAMS
At Hope City, we believe in the power of unified teams serving together for the glory of God. Scripture reminds us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor” (Ecclesiastes 4:9). Ministry is not a solo effort; we are better, stronger, and more effective when we move as one body with many parts (1 Corinthians 12:12). Every team exists to glorify Jesus and serve His mission together.
EXCELLENCE
We pursue excellence because God Himself is excellent. Psalm 8:1 declares, “O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!” Excellence is not perfectionism—it’s offering our very best to the Lord in all we do (Colossians 3:23). We believe that excellence honors God, inspires people, and reflects the beauty of His Kingdom.
HOLY LIFESTYLE
We are called to live lives set apart for God's glory. “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do” (1 Peter 1:15). A holy lifestyle isn’t about outward appearance; it’s about hearts that have been transformed by grace, pursuing purity, integrity, and obedience in every area of life as a response to God's love.
ACCOUNTABILITY
We believe that spiritual growth happens best in the context of trusted relationships and mutual accountability. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Accountability helps us stay faithful to our calling, guards us from isolation, and keeps our hearts tender before the Lord.
HUMILITY
Humility is the soil where all true spiritual growth begins. Philippians 2:3-4 teaches us, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” We seek to serve, listen, and learn from one another, always recognizing that everything we have comes from God's grace, not our own merit.
LOVE MERCY
We are a people marked by mercy because we have received abundant mercy. Micah 6:8 calls us to “act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.” Mercy triumphs over judgment (James 2:13). At Hope City, we extend compassion freely, reflecting the heart of Jesus to a hurting world.
TEACHABLE
A teachable spirit is essential for spiritual maturity. Proverbs 9:9 says, “Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.” We posture our hearts to continually learn from God’s Word, from leadership, and from life experiences, trusting that growth is a lifelong journey.
HONOR
We choose to live with a spirit of honor—toward God, leadership, one another, and all people. Romans 12:10 exhorts us, “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Honor builds a culture of trust, humility, and unity where God's Spirit can freely move.
HONESTY
We are committed to honesty, walking in the light as Christ is in the light. “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor” (Ephesians 4:25). Truth-telling, integrity, and sincerity are essential foundations for healthy relationships and Kingdom living.
CLEAR COMMUNICATION
God is not a God of confusion but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33). We value clear, kind, and timely communication to ensure unity, reduce misunderstandings, and strengthen trust. Speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) builds up the body and glorifies Christ.
SABBATH
We honor the Sabbath principle as a gift, not a burden. Exodus 20:8 reminds us, “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.” We believe in intentional rhythms of work and rest, trusting that God sustains us. Resting in Him renews our strength and keeps our hearts tender and joyful.
THANKSGIVING
Gratitude is the posture of a heart that recognizes God’s goodness. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 commands, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” We cultivate a spirit of thanksgiving in all seasons, acknowledging that every good gift comes from above (James 1:17).
GENEROSITY
We live open-handedly because God has been extravagantly generous toward us. Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Generosity is about more than finances—it’s a lifestyle of giving our time, talents, and treasures for the sake of others and the advancement of the Kingdom.
